Saying "Po and Opo"

My neighbor once asked me why my kids forget to say po and opo sometimes.

My thoughts about this topic is 50/50
because po and opo is part of our culture as Filipinos BUT just because we don't use it, doesn't mean we are not respectful.

At the same time, i feel shy when people notices that my kids forgets to say it. Its like, im not teaching them how to be respectful.

There are parts of the philippines who does not use po at opo i have known some ni
And when the people is rich, well mostly of them i dont hear them say po and opo.

I hope you can share your opinion and give advice

Yes thats true po and opo are the basis of respect here in the Philippines.Theres more in our province you need to mano all the time.Dont be surprised if that is noticed, especially by the elderly or grandparents. My son also sometimes forgets to say that. My mother-in-law always told me to teach my son and dont forget po and opo with matching mano.
I feel like im not a good parents the way they tell me that. I know how to decipline my kids. For me its not the basis.
