Using cellphone at Gas Station

Our city council has a program that i attended at my kids school called FIRE PREVENTION, they are encouraging people to join them this coming March on fire prevention month.

one of the interesting topic there is using the cellphone while at the gasoline stations.

So they explained that ITS NOT TRUE that ITS NOT SAFE TO USE CELLPHONE IF YOUR AT GASOLINE STATIONS.

Its started on late 90's that they started to not allowed using phones at gas stations because of the spreading rumors that there are cellphone related explosion. Even there is no concrete evidence that can prove if its true, the oil companies still decided to add this on their safety measures and restricted it, "JUST IN CASE" IT MIGHT HAPPEN.

But how this will happened incase its true, according to the rumors cellphone battery spark can ignite or attract gasoline fumes and can explode. according to different researches it is unlikely to happen, the chances of it happening is only 1 out of 10 billion chances.
So far there is NO case or news that there is a gas station that exploded because of using cellphone.

There are also researchers who tried this theory and no explosion or fire that happened.
The professor said, technically the cellphones are designed to be intrinsically safe meaning it will Not just produce spark to cause fire or explosion.

But for me, its still better to be safe. So i will still Never use cellphone on gas stations.
