It's summer again, and here in the Philippines, we're back to enjoying cold treats like halo-halo, mais con yelo, and ice cream. Speaking of ice cream, did you know we have something called "dirty ice cream" here? It's actually sorbetes in Tagalog, but it's not really dirty. The story goes that parents used to forbid their kids from eating ice cream before, especially the ones sold on the streets, so they'd say, "Don't buy that, it's dirty ice cream." That's why it's still called dirty ice cream today. Normally, the flavors you'll find are cheese, mango, and ube. My favorite kind of ice cream is the one served with a bun called monay They put the ice cream inside the monay.
You can't blame us Filipinos for loving ice cream its a perfect treat for our hot weather.
