Here in the Philippines, living in an extended family setup is very common. This type of living arrangement involves multiple generations living together under one roof, even when the children are already married. For many Filipinos, this is the norm.
Sometimes its a choice, but other times it's out of necessity due to financial constraints. There are both positive and negative effects to this kind of living arrangement. On the positive side, it fosters strong family bonds and prevents family members from drifting apart. However, it can also lead to misunderstandings, jealousy, competition, especially when it comes to finances and personalities.
My husband and I still live in my in law's house because it was their choice. They are the only ones living here. However, we are currently having a house built, and once it's finished, we will move out. We haven't encountered any problems with my in-laws because they have been very kind to me. I feel very fortunate to have such wonderful in-laws.
Living under one roof isn't bad at all but in such situations, its important to have patience and understanding towards each other to maintain healthy relationships
